AVL Powertrain Engineering, Inc is looking for a Project Engineer who is experienced in the transmission calibration area. Qualified candidates must possess at least 5 years of applicable experience. This role is a great opportunity for engineers to develop their skills in the tranmssion area by supporting projects as a part of the largest indepent company for the development of powertrain systems with internal combustion engines as well as instrumentation and test systems. In this position proficient communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment are required. The Project Engineer II will provide technical and program expertise and mentoring to Skill Team and Cross:Functional engineering program team activities. This position will be located in Auburn Hills, MI. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full:time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.The Calibration and Certification Skill Team provides engine calibration expertise to projects. The specific roles of a Senior Project Engineer in this effort include:Defines, plans, and performs transmission and vehicle calibration and other relevant engineering project work within project team as required.Plans and manages engineering resources according to project requirements.Works on specific phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, preparation of specifications, technical plans, engine testing, vehicle testing, data analysis and validation.Supports/ensures data quality and writes technical project reports.Reviews project for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements, including opinions and interpretations.Coordinates activities concerned with technical development, scheduling, and resolving engineering test issues.Defines, executes and supports research and development activities.Supports, organizes, and leads customer meetings. Supports customer calibration trips as required.Other duties as required to insure project success.A Senior Project Engineer is expected to have demonstrated abilities in the following areas:Technical Identify, initiate, and support opportunities for technology development, process improvements, tool development, and knowledge capture and re:use.
