AVL Powertrain Engineering, Inc. is an expert partner to the global automotive and mobility industry for the development of innovative powertrain systems and currently looking to expand our engine calibration team. In this role you will work day to day in the engine dyno and will be supporting customer project work. Qualified candidates must have proficient customer communication skills and at least 5 years of relevant engine calibration experience. Gasoline experience is required. This position will be located offiste in Auburn Hills, MI. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full:time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position. The Calibration and Certification Skill Team provides engine calibration expertise to projects. The specific roles of a Project Engineer II in this effort include:Defines, plans, and performs engine and vehicle calibration and other relevant engineering project work within project team as required.Plans and manages engineering resources according to project requirements.Works on specific phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, preparation of specifications, technical plans, engine testing, vehicle testing, data analysis and validation.Supports/ensures data quality and writes technical project reports.Reviews project for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements, including opinions and interpretations.Coordinates activities concerned with technical development, scheduling, and resolving engineering test issues.Defines, executes and supports engine performance and emissions research and development activities.Supports, customer meetings. Other duties as required to insure project success.A Project Engineer II is expected to have demonstrated abilities in the following areas:Technical Identify, initiate, and support opportunities for technology development, process improvements, tool development, and knowledge capture and re:use. Familiarity with regulatory and market segment requirements and end:user expectationsCalibration and development experience with one or more of the following engine types:Compression ignition enginesSpark:ignited direct injection (NA or turbocharged)Spark:ignited PFI enginesIndependent functionality in one or more of the following areas:Base engine calibration (steady:state and transient)Fuel system development and calibrationTurbocharging and EGR system development and calibrationVehicle and/or engine emissions calibration and optimization to meet regulatory standards.Vehicle and/or engine cold start and environmental correction calibration.Vehicle development trip support for hot weather, cold weather and high altitude.Vehicle driveability and feature calibrationTorque model and torque path calibration OBDII and diagnostic development and calibrationExhaust aftertreatment calibration for diesel DPF, DOC, SCR systemsWorking experience with some or all of the following tools:Etas INCAATI VisionVector CANape, CANalyzerAVL DriveAVL CameoAVL ConcertoMototron MotoTune/MotoHawkRelational Working effectively with customers and other program staff and team membersAccountability for individual and team delivery Active pursuit of personal and departmental improvementEffective communication with all levels of the program teamCommercialSupport the Business Development process for specific clients.Efficient on time delivery of program expectations with consistently high feedback.Active involvement in Annual Review and Work Planning Process.Experience and Education 5 years experience in area of expertiseBachelorA?s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
