HR Specialist - Payroll and Benefits

Due to the growth of our employee population, Kawasaki has a unique and outstanding opportunity for an HR professional well versed in ADP WFN payroll and benefits to join our small but committed HR team based at the Kawasaki Robotics US HQ in Wixom, Michigan.

The HR Specialist will take responsibility for payroll and benefits for employees in the US and Canada and work alongside the company’s Senior HR Generalists in both Michigan and California as well as the HR Director. As a full HR team member your role will at times encompass other generalist HR duties to provide both personal development opportunities and a valuable contribution to HR team objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for bi-weekly processing of timesheets and payroll for US and Canadian employees. (Majority is US with a small contingent in Canada)
Responsible for US and Canadian payroll and benefits legal compliance
Benefit enrollments, change requests, and bill reconciliation
Work with FMLAS, FSA and HSA third party administrators
Maintain health insurance files by updating records with new hires and terminations
Serve as the main contact for the Kawasaki group 401(k) administrator
Registering for new payroll tax accounts when necessary
Updating the payroll company of any tax rate changes etc.
Advise on further ADP enhancements and new functionalities as appropriate
Other human resource and administrative related duties as needed

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

Demonstrable understanding of HR’s role as a contributing business function
3 + years’ of payroll and benefits administration experience is required
At least one years’ experience working with ADP Workforce Now, is required
Degree in HR is preferred or additional HR experience will be required
PHR or SHRM-CP certification or willingness to work towards such
Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills
Experience must include working knowledge of health insurance, COBRA, 401k, FSA, HSA’s and other employee benefits such as dental and vision etc.
Some basic working knowledge of 401(k), unemployment, & related taxes
Intermediate to advanced level knowledge of working in Word and Excel
Accounting & mathematical skill coupled to detail and accuracy are essential
Sense of urgency and internal customer focus
Proven ability to organize workload and function under pressure, ability to prioritize and work with minimum supervision and instruction
High level of integrity and ethics plus a strong moral compass
