Position Summary:
Key member of the Transducer Engineering Group responsible for loudspeaker design and customer support. Responsible for the application and proliferation of current transducer technologies and the development of new transducer technologies which are cost effective and reliable. Contibutes to providing the company a competitive edge with then the marketplace.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No direct reports, however providing technical mentorship to interns or engineers with less experience is required
Job Responsibilities:
:Lead transducer development on assigned New Product Development projects. Be responsible and accountable for all transducer design activities within the Project Team.
:Be the main customer interface for technical transducer realted issues.
:Ensure that all customer and internal project milestones are met.
:Lead all transducer design related problem solving activities for assigned projects.
:Provide technical support on acoustical performance, durability, and cost at design and feasibility reviews.
:Produce all relevant documentation such as Bill of Materials, Sketches, Simulation data, Performance data, DFMEA/DRBFM, DVP and R, and all other documentation required to support the development process.
:Use, maintain, and improve upon Best Practices and Design Standards via the Lessons Learned process and the Knowledge Base.
:Maintain ODA database with accurate Transducer information for your projects.
:Provide engineering cost estimates for transducer designs/concepts/components/tooling
:Work with and provide guidance to Transducer Engineers in China as needed to support product development in North America
:Be the lead customer interface for transducer issues on North American projects
:Work with global cross functional team
:Travel to China, Europe and Mexico periodically as needed, estimate 2:4 times per year
:Support VA/VE activities with focus on transducer components
:Conduct research and development into new materials, components, topologies, and simulation methods.
:Ensure that potential intellectual property is fully researched, documented, and protected.
:Provide technical support to other functions, as needed.
:Prepare technical reports.
:Resesarch and review competive products, technologies, and intellectual property.
:Stay current with the latest developments in world class best practices as related to audio product design, simulation, analysis, measurment, materials, and processing techniques.
Basic Qualifications:
Education:Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a specialized technical/scientific field. Electro Mechanical experience with experience in acoustics is a plus. Additional experience may be substituted for education and vice:versa.
Experience:5 Years minimum post graduation with a proven interest and passion about working in the field of acoustics. Chinese language is desired but not required.
Certifications:None required
Preferred Qualifications:
COMSOL experience is a plus
Eligibility Requirements:
Manual Dexterity:Work requires definite skilled and accurate physical operations requiring some closely coordinated performance.
Physical Effort:Work requires handling light to medium weight materials or equipment requiring limited effort.
Travel:Some travel will be required to support weekly meetings with local customer(s) within the Detroit area. Some travel will be required to China or Europe once or twice per year
:Team player willing to step outside the box if needed to lead a team toward a successful resolution of a transducer issue. Proactive, hard working and reliable person who is used to the pace of the automotive industry.
