Position Summary:
The Requirements Engineering position is the key technical focal point for a project or program both internal to Harman and external to suppliers and the OEM customer. This position requires a broad background in mechanical, electrical, HMI, cellular infrastructure, internet and software engineering and leads a team from a technical expertise base without having direct reports. Able to bring a technical team together, make tradeoffs, resolve issues and achieve a technical solution that meets the customer requirements. Must be able to effective communicate and document the resulting design and design changes. Serve as the technical customer interface for assigned program(s).

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have any direct or indirect reports.

Job Responsibilities: Engineers in this role are responsible for technically leading a project by developing requirements, defining architectures, performing tradeoffs and providing analysis that meets the customer needs. This includes but is not limited to: embedded cell phones, WiFi, HMI, Bluetooth, air cards, smart phones, Java Virtual Machines, I/O Controls, and back haul services (service providers).

:The Requirements Engineer is responsible for getting through the customer technical gate of a proposal.
:Develop presentations with architectures, assumptions and detailed analysis that meet the customer requirements within Harmans internal technical capabilities.
:Support the sales organization in the business development phase of a program, as part of proposal activity by analyzing customer RFQ specifications and developing a Configuration of Response.
:Analyzing the specifications to identify a list of undefined or under defined features that may require additional customer clarification or exceptions taken prior to quotation.
:Define and develop customer/end:user requirements.
:Develop technical functional/performance specifications based on customer specifications and internal documents to clearly and concisely capture what is required of the product.
:Work with the customer, engineers and suppliers to define the requirements. Organize all product specifications in a manner that allows for simplified requirements topic searching (e.g. WIKI Page).
:Track customer specifications and versions to ensure proper product definition. Track and resolve customer specification issues.
:Interface with both the customer and Harman Product Engineering teams to coordinate a successful resolution of issues.
:Document and maintain product requirement exceptions. Identify risk level associated with new feature development based on requirements status.
:Participate in internal and customer driven design reviews throughout program.
:Aware of all Federal Standards, industry standards and internal standards and assure that the resulting design will satisfy these requirements.
:Understands the software architecture and able to explain this to customers. Leads the development team in finding root cause of failures and generates a 7D or A3 failure analysis.
:Support HBAS internal organizations on product DFMEA, Schematic Reviews, Warranty, Diagnostics, DVP and R, Users Manual, Technical Service Bulletins, Appearance Approvals and PSO follow up.
:Lead the software/hardware/mechanical developers at the unit and system level to insure that all requirements are met and the highest software quality is achieved.

Basic Qualifications:
:BSEE / BSCS / (or equivalent); MSEE / MSCS preferred.
:5 plus years of experience in Systems Engineering
:Able to provide detailed reviews on complex/technical specifications.
:Broad Technical Background with general knowledge of relevant technologies: Bluetooth, WiFi, GSM/CDMA technology, smart phones, Navigation, GPS, Satellite Radio, video, Voice Recognition, Hands:Free operation and automotive environmental requirements.
