Position Summary:
HARMAN's diverse portfolio of businesses and customers offer interns a great opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of projects and practices. As a member of our team, your primary role will be to deliver a project related to supply chain risk mitigation, inventory reduction and operations improvement, the specific objective of the project will be determined based on emerging business needs and individual skills. The intern in from Summer 2017 focused on quantifying risk in the supply chain and documenting industry best practices related to risk mitigation. This position will report to a Sr. Manager or Director within the Global Materials Management and Logistics team depending on the specific project identified. The intern may interact with several internal departments outside of Sourcing including Engineering, Finance, Operations, Plants, and may also interact with external suppliers.
Job Responsibilities:
Differentiated Inventory Planning:
:Defining factors and characteristics that should be considered when planning inventory segmentation and Plan:For:Every:Part (PFEP) designs
:Expected to include impact of transit, locationalization, variability and supply chain risk mitigation drivers.
:Development of trade:off analysis for evaluation and prioritization
Materials Management Inventory Reduction:
:Contribute to the inventory optimization analysis and implementation for HARMAN manufacturing plants
:Evaluate current specific stock keeping practices to identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational cost savings
:Identify key characteristics to determine which parts are good candidates for conversion to consignment and/or vendor management inventory practices
Basic Qualifications:
:Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelors Degree program at an accredited institution as a Junior or Senior taking at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to participation in the internship program and plan to return to school for at least one semester upon completion of the internship program
:Must have taken courses with a business focus (Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain Management, etc.)
:Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to confidently interact and present information to senior leaders and executives
:Strong MS Office skills, specifically Excel to be able to create pivot tables and graphs
:Must work collaboratively with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
:Must provide full work availability from May 21, 2018 through August 10, 2018 and be able to work 40 hours per week
:Must provide own housing and transportation to/from work
:Must possess unrestricted work authorization
:Must be able to work Monday through Friday in an office located in Novi, Michigan
