Job Overview: This full-time, exempt (salaried) position reports to the Product Engineering Manager, and is part of our software development team, with outstanding opportunities to contribute and to learn. Our team has developed software products used around the globe and is looking forward to helping the next generation of software developers.

Most of the software development is done in ASP.Net using Microsoft SQL Server. The application also integrates tightly with infrastructure such as our network, firewalls, backup systems, cloud infrastructure, and numerous other software, services, and technologies.

There will be a need to interact with Online Tech staff and our customers to gather user stories, candidate direct feedback, and other input as needed. Experience with customer interaction is desired.


The ideal Associate Software Engineer for Online Tech is someone who:

Position Responsibilities:

• Programming for OTPortal, both Intranet and Client
• Contributing ideas to design and architecture
• Programming in VB and C# with ASP.Net
• Programming in JavaScript, JQuery, PowerShell, CSS/ HTML, and a wide range of other languages as necessary
• Learning and integrating with third party APIs from companies such as VMware, PRTG, Fortinet, Azure, AWS, etc.
• Assisting in managing and developing in SQL, MySQL, and/or other database technologies
• Contributing to daily developer huddles, sprint planning, and retrospectives
• Setting quarterly goals with manager and focusing efforts on achieving those goals

Required Skills and Experience:

• Undergraduate degree in a computer-related field, or close to completion (senior status)
• Experience programming with object-oriented languages, preferably VB.Net and C#
• Experience programming for web applications, preferably ASP.Net
• Experience working with SQL databases, T-SQL and ADO.Net
• Experience working with JavaScript, JQuery, CSS, PowerShell, or other scripting languages
• Strong grasp of software design patterns and effective development methodologies
• Experience working in a team development environment
• Impeccable time management skills
• Enthusiasm for learning and a penchant for solving really hard problems
• A deep-seated desire to understand how things work
• U.S. citizenship or U.S. lawful permanent residency required

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Industry experience in the above skills and experience
• Experience with writing SQL stored procedures, functions, triggers and query optimization
• Experience with SQL Server replication and mirroring
• Understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban
• Understanding of consuming of SOAP and HTTP/REST APIs
• Report writing experience (ability to use Microsoft Report Manager or other report design tools)
