**Application Systems Analyst**
**Position Summary/ Primary Purpose**
Reporting to the IT Manager as part of the Jervis B Webb Applications team, the Application Systems Analyst will be responsible for the configuration, implementation, and maintenance of various business applications managed by the IT department. This includes reviewing, analyzing, modifying and testing various business systems to ensure efficient operation, performance, security and integrity. Consults with users to identify and clarify business needs. May be expected to write documentation to describe system requirements, development, management needs and usages.
## Responsibilities
**Major Areas of Responsibility**
* Analyze and create detailed software application specification based on business/user need.
* Administer, monitor, maintain, troubleshoot and repair the performance essential business applications.
* Identify/Understand business rules and processes to ultimately improve or enhance the way business is done.
* Provide user support and administration for various business automation applications.
* Assure system operation, performance, and integrity of data.
* Create/Update/Modify/Enhance various business automation programs.
* Oversee the implementation, installation, configuration and upgrade of various hardware, operating systems, software and network components for approved systems and applications, coordinating tests of the application.ystem to ensure proper performance.
* Produce testing plan and perform detailed application testing.
* Produce application documentation and user training materials.
* Train end users to operate new or modified programs, reports and analytic tools.
* Monitor and maintain scheduled server tasks to import data, check data, produce reports, backup databases, etc
**Knowledge**
* Experience with business analysis and system design best practices
* Knowledge of software and application lifecycles
* Competency with SQL, data analysis and database processing tools.
* Knowledge of computer programming concepts and programing languages with the ability to read and understand basic code
* Knowledge of reporting, business intelligence and data analytic tools and techniques.
* Experience creating detailed reports and giving presentations.
* Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio.
* Basic knowledge of hardware, network and operating systems

* Information Ordering The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
* Problem Sensitivity The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
**Education & Experience**
* Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher in the field of computer science, information systems, or software engineering.
* 4+ years of related experience
* An equivalent combination of education and experience
**Demonstrated Physical Abilities**
Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence.
